Students for STEM Success keeps a centralized listing of paid/unpaid job, internship, research, and study abroad opportunities for STEM Students. http://goo.gl/2XosqG.
Companies post paid STEM internships and jobs with UNM Career Services on Lobo Career Connection (LCC). LCC offers less competition than websites like indeed or Monster. Log on to LCC with your UNM net ID and password at career.unm.edu.
Some companies post internships on their website. Navigate to their website (e.g., sandia.gov) and look for a link along the lines of “careers” or “jobs”. Typically, you will need to create an account, fill out an application, and upload a resume/cover letter.
You can also look for internships with local (e.g., bernco.gov/alljobs), state (spo.state.nm.us), and federal (usajobs.gov) governmental agencies.
Before you land a STEM internship, you must first learn the strategies that will help you navigate the competitive hiring process.
The UNM Office of Career Services offers free services to help you prepare your application materials (resume, cover letter) and practice interviewing. You can access helpful handouts and practice interviewing through their website. Career advisors will also meet with you individually.
